Column base plate
Plate welded to the column foot, fixed with four holding-down bolts and grouted.
Fin plate connection
A single plate welded to the column; the beam web bolts to it. Simple, quick to erect.
End plate connection
A plate welded across the beam end and bolted to the column flange. Used for moment or simple connections.
Bolted beam splice
Flange and web cover plates join two beam lengths, so long beams can be carried in and assembled.
Angle cleat
A pair of angles bolted to the beam web and the supporting member. Common in refurbishment work.

A steel spreader plate under a beam end spreads the load into masonry where depth is limited.
