Common questions
Galvanising or powder coating?
Read our guide on choosing between them in Guides.
What is the difference between galvanising and powder coating?
Galvanising coats the steel in zinc and protects it from corrosion. Powder coating is a coloured finish. Outdoors, both together (a duplex finish) give the longest life.
Can galvanised steel be painted?
Yes, once it has been prepared correctly, for example by sweep blasting or with a suitable primer.
Do you supply intumescent paint for fire protection?
We can apply intumescent coatings to the thickness the fire engineer specifies for the steel sections and fire rating.
