Common questions
Can you deliver to a terraced house with no access?
Yes. We can splice long beams into sections that fit through the house and bolt them together in place.
Do I need an engineer?
Yes. Building control needs structural calculations. We fabricate to the engineer’s design.
Do I need a structural engineer for a steel beam?
Yes. Building control needs calculations for any beam that carries the structure, such as when a load-bearing wall is removed. We fabricate to the engineer’s design.
Can a steel beam be delivered in pieces?
Yes. Long beams can be made in sections and bolted together on site, which helps when there is no side access.
Do you supply padstones and the bearing plates?
We supply the steel, including end plates, bearing plates and bolts. Padstones are usually bought locally by your builder to the engineer’s sizes.
