Base plates and holding-down bolts

How columns are fixed to foundations, set level and grouted.

A column stands on a base plate fixed to the foundation with holding-down bolts.

Cast-in or resin anchors

  • Cast-in bolts are set in the concrete using a template, often in bolt boxes or cones that allow a little adjustment.
  • Resin or mechanical anchors are drilled in after the concrete has cured.

Levelling and grout

Steel packs set the column at the right level. Once the frame is lined, levelled and plumbed, the gap under the plate is filled with non-shrink grout.

Your engineer specifies bolt size and embedment. We supply templates and setting-out details so the groundworker can place bolts accurately.
