BS EN 1090-2 groups steelwork into four execution classes. The higher the class, the more control there is over welding, inspection and traceability.
Who chooses the class?
The designer sets the execution class from the consequences of failure and how the structure is used and made. EXC2 is the class most buildings use.
What changes between classes
- How much welding is inspected and tested.
- Welding coordination and welder qualification requirements.
- How far material traceability must go.
Our factory production control is certified to BS EN 1090-1. Ask us to confirm the class it covers for your project.
